Knit Inspiration

I have added new yarn to my stash.
A good friend of mine invited me to dye yarn with her.
This is my first collection - I hope, it's not the last one!
The bright colours remind me of the upcoming spring time!

I have knitted a vest for a cute little boy named August.
I like to add a little contrast detail, so I used neon orange thread for the buttons.

For my birthday last week my hubby surprised me with a gift from a new Danish knit and crochet company named Kit Couture.
I got the most wonderful red scissor and some knitting needles.

I'm already a big fan of Kit Couture. Their style is so simple and delicate.

I better finish the sweater on the knitting needles, so I can start a new project.

I'm knitting a sweater from Sandnes, magazine 1414 Tweed & Co.
I knit with dark blue and grey yarn - I need a spring project in cheerful colours.

If you are looking for knit inspiration, you should have a look at Sandnes website. There's a lot of inspiring new knit magazines.

Do you have some knit inspiration, you want to share....?

Yarn de-stashing

Hello, my name is Mette,
I'm an yarn addict......
I have boxes and baskets full of yarn in different colors and fibers.
I often buy yarn with no purpose in mind.
It must stop!

I don't have a lot of WIP's and UFO's,
I prefer one knit project at a time.

Since December I have knitted a sweater, a hat, a scarf and 6 pairs of socks - all knitted of yarn from stash.
Totally approx. 1,2 kg yarn.
Honestly, it feels damn good!

I have decided to continue my yarn de-stashing -
do you wanna join me...?

There are no rules, but your own.

I hope to keep the knit mojo and de-stash with some knitted gifts in mind. It's an easy way to great gifts and it's such pleasure.

A Glimpse of my January

Long time no see...
I'm still here, despite blog burnout.

A strange thing has happened - I like knitting socks!
I have knitted 4 pairs of socks the past month
- that's a victory!

I've lost my sewing mojo during December,
so I decided to knit, while I'm waiting for my mojo.

I guess therapeutic knitting is good for me -
and a great wait to turn off the thoughts.

Despite the lack of sewing mojo and too little snow
I do my best to enjoy every day in January. I like winter time.

Do you like to knit socks.....?
Perhaps I will plan a sock yarn swap, but I'm not sure,
if anyone think is a great idea.
What do you think...?

Have a crafty, cosy day out there.

Sweet November Shawl

During my vacation I watched the movie
"Sweet November" with Charlize Theron.
In this movie she is a passionated knitter -
I find it very relaxing to see that in a movie,
and inspiring too!

Charlize Theron also wore a shawl/scarf in various colors
throughout the movie. I think, it's the reason that I saw
the movie to the end. I couldn't take my eyes of the shawl!

Thanks to my friends, Google and Ravelry, I realized,
that many crafty persons had seen the movie and this lovely shawl.

I found the right pattern and yarn. I L-O-V-E this shawl!
The pattern is easy and relaxing - soon I will have my own
collection of Sweet November Shawls in various colors.

You find a link to the pattern here
This yarn completes the shawl,
I only wish, I could buy it in the neighbor hood.
It was quite a challenge to get it to DK....

Lucky you who have a local store with this wonderful yarn.

Annabel Cardigan

It took me one week to knit sweet Annabel.
I enjoy every single stitch, that I knitted.
It's a great knit project.
The yarn is perfect, I like the colour.
I have never knitted a cardigan
and tried it on with such as pleasure as Annabel.

This friendship will last!
Our youngest daughter is playing photographer
and we had so much fun.

You find the pattern for Annabel here.
I used two strands of yarn -
tweed/alpaca mix and merino/cashmere.

I have to knit one more,
but first I have a shawl to finish
(...and a few other knit projects....).

I enjoy my shawl project too,
I have missed my knitting mojo
and I intend to enjoy every single minute.

Today it's a wonderful late summer day in DK,
but I'm longing for colder days.
I'm longing for soup, woolie socks,
candles and so many crafty things to do inside.

Until then I just enjoy the best I can.

Yellow

A new yellow shawl, The Lonely Tree Shawl
 for crispy cold August nights.

It's first time I try the picot cast off method,
but certainly not the last time.
A nice detail if you ask me.

It's early fall this year -
not what I expected for our Summer vacation.

Last week before vacation is over.
I enjoy every day and every minute.

It has been hard to stay home all summer this year.
We usually travel one or two weeks.
I'm not able to relax the same way,
when I'm home.

All for now - time for a small trip to Copenhagen.
Coffee with my dear hubby and a visit in
one of my favorite yarn shops.

My monday off

A glimpse from my sunny monday off.
It's a good day and it's mine alone - at least until my family gets home.
Dinner is made - indian meatballs with lots of spices.

Massage and yoga were my best friends last week.
Just what I needed to get more energy.
I promise myself to make a few yoga exercises home every day.

I have spoiled myself with this lovely yarn reminding me of raspberries.

My friend, Vibeke, has inspired me again. This time with the very lovely Levenwick.
I had planned to knit a yellow one,
but since yellow were not in stock that day, I choose this very summerish colour.
(I was unable to leave the store without yarn.....)
The colour reminds  me of sweet summer raspberries -
which I bought to make muffins today.

...I better finish this one,
before I start a new knit project.....

I just have a teeny weeny problem -
my tension headache gets back, when I knit.
I really try to breathe and relax my shoulders, but....
One of the reasons that yoga home is a great idea.

I will continue enjoying this wonderful day.
Bake, make yoga, sew. knit in the garden and tonight hanging out with
one of our best friends. A friend we don't see very often,
so his unexpected visit is a joy.

I hope, your monday is good too.

Lazy Sunday

It's no secret, that my favorite danish knit designer is

Daffodil is now on the needles -
I just wish, I had bought the original yarn.

At the moment I'm a lazy knitter and don't want to think so much.
If this project doesn't work, it's a waste of money to buy yarn....

If it works, I might knit one more!
...but first I have to finish this one.

Beside knitting I made oven dried tomatoes, rhubarb compot,
snack buns with rye and chocolate, bread, humus.

All for now.
Time to knit a bit more and watch House of Cards with my hubby.

Sock Heaven

I have started a tiny sock production,
and I enjoy it.

I will continue knitting woolie socks
to warm someone's feet.

21. januar 2013

warm feet

warm, woolie socks for me
(no, they are not in different sizes..)

these small de-stash projects are good for me

I like knitted socks very much,
and usually I don't like to knit the second sock.

You should try to knit socks in thicker yarn
- then it takes no time to knit yourself a pair. Promise!

It's a sunny, very cold, beautiful day here
I like my day off Monday

new knit collection from the book named

she brought all the knit models from the book

by Arne & Carlos

yesterday I had a great november sunday
first a visit here

tea shopping here
mini cupcake and cappuccino by Agnes

- then it was time for the workshop with Arne & Carlos
(....yes, Julekugler, Knitted Christmas Balls)

it was so inspirational to hear them talk about their knitwear design
(....which was new for me. I had only heard about the balls...)

I like the way Arne & Carlos use classic patterns from old family knitwear
and mix it with modern ideas - all in a very humoristic way

you can knit your own Arne & Carlos knitwear too

I'm sure, my husband would love me to knit him
a space invaders hat (...or sweater)

...but I will start with the Christmas ornaments
...have you seen these.....!?

22. oktober 2011
