I have a dream......

.....of free hand stitching and cross stitch.
As a teenager I did a lot of cross stitching,
but it seems like ages ago.
Inspiration is everywhere,
like Pinterest, here, here and my collection of
books and Japanese magazines.

Yesterday I took a step and made
an embroidery sewing case for myself.
So far, so good...

I know - it's the usual mix of vintage, prints and linen,
but I like it.

When I visited Stockholm a couple a years ago,
I bought an embroidery book Karins broderier by

Recently when we visited Malmö
my hubby gave me Karin's second book
Karin's books are very different from the other
embroidery books, I have, but her books inspire me.
Beside that her work is lovely and true handwork.
The sewing case is inspired by a project
in Karin's latest book.

... just practicing! It's fun.
Do you like stitching and embroidery
and where do you find your inspiration?

(...remember that you still have time to join the giveaway)

  4. hello mette, i have been reading your blog for years , a lurker as the jargon has it, sorry. anyway i'm stepping forward to thank you for your lovely blog, and to ask you a question. did you ever make the yellow quilt ? i made a yellow quilt, you inspired me ! when i saw those yellow scraps it sent me into a frenzy of buying and then stitching and it has been on my daughter's bed these few years. i am now about to make another yellow quilt and i have been drooling over those scraps of yours again - especially the russian doll ! and i wondered, did you ever do it ???? another great scandinavian mystery !
anyway thank you for the years of inspiration

  6. Hi Mette, I stopped by to see what you have been up to., and you always are working with lovely fabric. I have not done anything with my box of goodies that you sent me but when I do you will be the first to get a picture. I still just enjoy going through it. Your embroydery sampling is very nice and I too enjoy hand stitching.
