Knit Inspiration

I have added new yarn to my stash.
A good friend of mine invited me to dye yarn with her.
This is my first collection - I hope, it's not the last one!
The bright colours remind me of the upcoming spring time!

I have knitted a vest for a cute little boy named August.
I like to add a little contrast detail, so I used neon orange thread for the buttons.

For my birthday last week my hubby surprised me with a gift from a new Danish knit and crochet company named Kit Couture.
I got the most wonderful red scissor and some knitting needles.

I'm already a big fan of Kit Couture. Their style is so simple and delicate.

I better finish the sweater on the knitting needles, so I can start a new project.

I'm knitting a sweater from Sandnes, magazine 1414 Tweed & Co.
I knit with dark blue and grey yarn - I need a spring project in cheerful colours.

If you are looking for knit inspiration, you should have a look at Sandnes website. There's a lot of inspiring new knit magazines.

Do you have some knit inspiration, you want to share....?

Embroidery Workshop

Sometimes you need to spoil yourself -
I did, when I decided to go to one of Karen Marie's embroidery workshops.

I got started on cross stitch as a teenager. Then I did no cross stitch
for several years until getting interested in the inspiring Zakka world.
The possibility of free hand stitching has tempted me a lot.
I just needed to learn something about the different stitches.
That's why I went to this workshop - 7 hours in imbroidery heaven
with a group of talented crafters.

I still have so much to learn, but now I'm learning.
I hope to mix it with my passion for patchwork.

You must visit Stine's blog - she is knit designer and made
the most wonderful feathers on one of her knit projects.

It's beginning to look like Christmas

It's already December 7th.
I do my best to enjoy each day of this wonderful time.

I'm a big fan on this talented woman
last year I found some old wood pieces in France.
(Some women bye clothes, when they travel -
I buy food and find silly things).
My husband and I made our own little x-mas tree
of wood pieces from a very old building
close to Mont Ventoux.
I miss this place so much and hope to get back next year.
Perhaps we could meet, Marianne.

Advent calendar candle and my lovely
Dalar house from Sweden.
The wood x-mas trees are an advent gift
from my dear husband.

A dear friend brought me these branches
and now I have my own - kind of - x-mas tree.

I take one day at a time - I love December.
I don't want to loose this special time of year -
and I do my best to organize my to-do list.
If I do that, I'm ready for the challenges,
that keep on coming.....
I love life - everyday life in particular.

I have been unable to get this wonderful scarf out of my mind.
My dear friend, Vibeke, has posted about her lovely scarf

I could'n resist anymore.....

Sweet November Shawl

During my vacation I watched the movie
"Sweet November" with Charlize Theron.
In this movie she is a passionated knitter -
I find it very relaxing to see that in a movie,
and inspiring too!

Charlize Theron also wore a shawl/scarf in various colors
throughout the movie. I think, it's the reason that I saw
the movie to the end. I couldn't take my eyes of the shawl!

Thanks to my friends, Google and Ravelry, I realized,
that many crafty persons had seen the movie and this lovely shawl.

I found the right pattern and yarn. I L-O-V-E this shawl!
The pattern is easy and relaxing - soon I will have my own
collection of Sweet November Shawls in various colors.

You find a link to the pattern here
This yarn completes the shawl,
I only wish, I could buy it in the neighbor hood.
It was quite a challenge to get it to DK....

Lucky you who have a local store with this wonderful yarn.

Annabel Cardigan

It took me one week to knit sweet Annabel.
I enjoy every single stitch, that I knitted.
It's a great knit project.
The yarn is perfect, I like the colour.
I have never knitted a cardigan
and tried it on with such as pleasure as Annabel.

This friendship will last!
Our youngest daughter is playing photographer
and we had so much fun.

You find the pattern for Annabel here.
I used two strands of yarn -
tweed/alpaca mix and merino/cashmere.

I have to knit one more,
but first I have a shawl to finish
(...and a few other knit projects....).

I enjoy my shawl project too,
I have missed my knitting mojo
and I intend to enjoy every single minute.

Today it's a wonderful late summer day in DK,
but I'm longing for colder days.
I'm longing for soup, woolie socks,
candles and so many crafty things to do inside.

Until then I just enjoy the best I can.

Todays garden life
Liberty, 19Q4 by Haruki Murakami,
cherries, peas, flowers, sun,
and a new quilting tool.

Last week when I was surfing on the internet,
I found this Dresden Plate template.
I was lucky to find it in a local fabric store.
I love stuff, that can make your sewing life easier.

Two days off and then back to business,
I'm longing for vacation thursday next week.
I need a break and time with my family.
Everyone else seems to be on vacation already.

Zakka Handmades blog tour + giveaway

I'm a big fan of the Japanese zakka world,
it can hardly surprise anyone....
I was very exited, when Amy Morinaka invited me
to join the Zakka Handmades blog tour.

Amy's book with 24 projects is inspiring for beginners

...but you have a chance to win a copy of Amy's book.
All you have to do is to leave a comment to this post
by Friday July 19th. The giveaway is open internationally.

Picnic Quilt

It took me one year to finish the Picnic quilt,
but now it's finally done.

I'm pleased with how it turned out.

This is the quilt collection so far -
Picnic quilt
Blue Sea (inspired by our vacation in Portugal 3 years ago)

This photo reminds me of the Spring time, we all need so much.
Cheerful colours and sunshine.

A mix of vintage sheets, embroidery and new fabrics,
just the way I like it.

The back is made of light green and white gingham.

....do you like quilts too!?

Joy

I enjoy the Easter break very much,
I just wish, it was a bit warmer.....

The lovely Easter wood ornaments are from a local tea shop.
The owner of the shop told me, that they would also order Christmas ornaments!

Now it's time to knit, watch a movie (Beck - a Swedish crime story - one of my favourites!) -
but first I have to make some popcorn.

I hope, you enjoy Easter time too.

Easter break

I need cheerful colours and prints
- and these tiny projects reminds me of easter and spring.
A perfect colour theme for my crafty spirit.

Many of my crafty friends are passionate tea drinkers.
I think, this small an easy idea is a great way to re-use the tea tin.
I use the tin for needle pins, when it's empty.

...all you have to do is to make a fabric flower and glue it on the tin.
Happy crafting!

My hubby and I started the day with a long walk in the forrest round a lake.
We brought tea and enjoyed the silence.
A great way to start the easter break.

Scraphappy

Simple is good

These small fabric pieces are a perfect match.

Why is it, that fabric scraps make me so happy...
I love to use every tiny fabric scrap.

Today these tiny fabrics fill me with joy,
especially when they come from a friend,
who knows, how much I appreciate tiny scraps.

It's a very scrappy-happy-monday here.

Alma Olsen

..who was she? ....did she made this lovely needlework..!?
I hope, she had a long and happy life

I like to know, that my thrift finds have a story
- it would be so interesting to know some of the stories

I like cross stitch alphabets.
Maybe there are old fashioned, but I like them.
When I see a name on the work, I know, there is a story behind the name.

I would like to have my own cross stitch alphabet one day.
I like a mix of different fonts like this one from Supertanten.

I love to write with a pencil
