Long time no see.....

 A scrappy-happy-pincushion project.
...not much to say about that.
(......but it's like therapy to me).

I have bought tree fabric scrap packs here.
It's so fun to mix the tiny bits n bobs.

- and I bought a new crochet book too!
I can't wait to get a better look inside the book tonight.

I have a small pincushion giveaway on my Instagram profile
@metterobl - so drop by if you wanna join it.

Scrappy-Happy-List-Takers

It started with a pile of tiny  fabric scraps -
and suddenly it was a fabric patchwork puzzle.

I'm unable to throw away fabric scraps -
I love scrappy-happy projects.

I want to go through my fabric stash and do a spring clean,
but I'm not sure, that it will be an easy project....
I started my fabric collection, when I started to work back in 78.
I often wish, that I wasn't a person,
who get too attached to things like fabric and yarn.
Many of my fabrics are held onto for sentimal reasons.

I have already given yarn to a local second hand shop
- it was great!

I want to know, that my treasured fabrics go to good new homes.
Maybe I should make some fabric bundles for sale

Scrappy triangle, nine patch, linen and lace -
that's my kind of Monday off.

Working on a coffee cozy for french press.

Patchwork-mania

I have been doing a lot of sewing since last weekend.
I have enjoyed every minute of my selfish craft time.
It's been so long, since I allowed myself to forget everything and just sew.

I made six patchwork purses, app. 20 x 11 cm.
I like to use fabric purses for needle books, thread and so -
it's easy to bring with you.

The cheerful cotton prints make me happy.
I enjoy, that we finally got some snow,
but all the colors make me think of spring.

I hope next week will be a selfish-sewing-week too!

All for now - I better rush to my patchwork triangles.

Zakka Saturday

I haven't touched my sewing machine for a very long time.
I really miss it.
I have been thinking of many good things to make,
but no sewing has happened.

Todays first zakka project is a pencil case.

Linen, vintage embroidery, retro apples and a mix
of cotton prints from stash -
leftovers from this quilt
January is always a good month for me to de-stash.

I have bought a new book
I bought it mostly because of this lovely quilt
I'm a big admirer of her quilts.

I have an idea for a new quilt,
but it includes this Butterfly fabric from Moda.
I found it on Etsy, but the shop doesn't ship to Denmark.

Happy Saturday.

I have a dream......

.....of free hand stitching and cross stitch.
As a teenager I did a lot of cross stitching,
but it seems like ages ago.
Inspiration is everywhere,
like Pinterest, here, here and my collection of
books and Japanese magazines.

Yesterday I took a step and made
an embroidery sewing case for myself.
So far, so good...

I know - it's the usual mix of vintage, prints and linen,
but I like it.

When I visited Stockholm a couple a years ago,
I bought an embroidery book Karins broderier by

Recently when we visited Malmö
my hubby gave me Karin's second book
Karin's books are very different from the other
embroidery books, I have, but her books inspire me.
Beside that her work is lovely and true handwork.
The sewing case is inspired by a project
in Karin's latest book.

... just practicing! It's fun.
Do you like stitching and embroidery
and where do you find your inspiration?

(...remember that you still have time to join the giveaway)

Zakka Handmades blog tour + giveaway

I'm a big fan of the Japanese zakka world,
it can hardly surprise anyone....
I was very exited, when Amy Morinaka invited me
to join the Zakka Handmades blog tour.

Amy's book with 24 projects is inspiring for beginners
as well as more advanced sewers.

It's hard to choose which project to make,
but I decided to start with a rice therapy eye pilow.
The eye pillow is filled with uncooked dry rice
- you can heat it in the microwave.

You can replace the rice with beans and
add lavender buds.

I skipped the embroidery
- not because I don't like it!
....I was a lazy sewer that day, that's it.

If you like Zakka too, you have to buy this book!

...but you have a chance to win a copy of Amy's book.
All you have to do is to leave a comment to this post
by Friday July 19th. The giveaway is open internationally.

I will announce the randon winner on July 20th.

Until then you can visit the other blogs participating
in the blog tour. There's a giveaway at every stop!

3 x 2 = 3 sets of zakka coasters

Honestly I find coasters unnecessary,
but I like to make them.
It's a pleasure to choose colors and prints,
but must of all it's a pleasure to sew them.
To see how they grow and and finish in a hurry.

...so, coasters are not unnecessary for me.
It's relaxing therapy.
It's time to remind you of this post.
So stay tuned - I'll be back soon.
In the meantime you can read the other blog posts
about the Zakka Handmade blog Tour.
